Okay, this one’s in english…

I am amazed and exhilarated by the hype that the iPhone is stirring right now. Stories have been circulating ever since it was announced in january and now, either way you look, there is someone talking about it. This past week, basically all the news on the internet have been focused on Paris Hilton getting out of jail, or the iPhone itself. It’s even appearing on the Swedish news networks! We get reports from the queues forming outside of AT&T and Apple Stores as if there was some kind of religious gathering taking place all over the US.
I’ve heard some people refer to it as ”the jesus phone”. Is it really the phone that will deliver all of us from our excruciating pain that we endure while stuck with the current offering of cellphones on the market? How much will it change the industry?
Looking at past Apple products and the ripple effects that they have caused throughout their respective markets, I think it is safe to say that it will indeed change a lot.
In a way it doesn’t really matter how many units they manage to sell. The iPhone marketing campaign has been the most successful in history and the hype an buzz that it has caused is unprecedented in the technology-sector. It is truly impressive (and I haven’t even talked about the actual capabilities of the phone).
I don’t know what my conclusion will be but I just wanted to take this time to write down my thoughts on this (historic?) event. I say: ”Good luck Apple!”.

I also now realize that I’m posting this at the exact time that the iPhone is going on sale on the U.S. east coast.
So I’m taking my chance to quote Steve Jobs as he in turn quoted Bob Dylan when Apple in 1984 introduced the Macintosh:

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’.
